The Curragh Golf Club

The Curragh GC is a club with the lengthiest honoured history within Irish Golf. The Course at The Curragh Golf Club is 18 holes, par 72, is a hilly heathland type of golf course laid over 4,700 acres of sylvan parklands. The course drains very well and is on a semi grassland plain with about 14 bunkers in play and a huge numbers of sheep freely grazing the rough along the fairways. The Curragh Golf Club course has several memorable and challenging holes that bring out the best in pros and rookies alike.

The Curragh Golf Club is dedicated to provide challenging and enjoyable golfing for The Curragh Golf Club members and its visitors alike. The plains of The Curragh region are owned by the Department of Defence and also home to Irish Horse Racing.

We believe The Curragh Golf Club course was built in early July, 1858 by then member and designer David Ritchie. The Curragh Golf Club was recognised and accepted by the Golfing Union of Ireland in 1898.

Today, The Curragh Golf Club is the eldest known and confirmed golf course in the republic of Ireland. A renaming of The Curragh Golf Club as the current oldest golf establishment in Irish history with full royal titles is scheduled to for early 2014. The brand new club title will be: Royal Curragh Golf Club. This will add The Curragh GC (Royal Curragh Golf Club) to the world's Royal Golf Clubs list.
