On the US PGA Tour, world number one Rory McIlroy was victorious once again at the Deutsche Bank Championship.

As the tournament entered its final round on Monday following a delay due to rainy weather the day before, McIlroy made up three shots in the first five holes to press South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen for the title. The South African had been expected to win the tournament after his impressive performance in the third round, but after McIlroy's charge early in the final round a battle for the trophy ensued between the two players.

Although McIlroy's final round started well, the world number one from Northern Ireland didn't rest on his laurels as play progressed on Monday. Narrowly escaping several bogey and double-bogey situations including a tricky bunker shot and a five-foot putt, both on the back nine, McIlroy kept his cool to card a 4-under-par 67 to beat Oosthuizen by a single stroke.

For McIlroy, this victory is a further sign that the young champion is securing his place at the very top of international golf. Once criticised for his inconsistent game, the Irishman is proving hard to beat as his game continues to consolidate itself.

In Europe, Scotland's Richie Ramsay lifted the trophy at a milestone victory in his career when he won the European Masters on Sunday.

As Sunday's final round unfolded in the Swiss Alps, Ramsay sailed to a four-shot victory over a group of players who finished tied for second. The Scotsman's final round score of 66 put him well ahead of the group which included Australia's Marcus Frasier and Romain Wattel of France.

This victory is the first in two seasons for Ramsay, who last won at the 2010 South African Open. Joining the winner's circle alongside compatriot Paul Lawrie who won the Johnny Walker Championship last week, Ramsay is proving to be a strong competitor on the European Tour.
